VMware Standard - Discontinued!
Navigating the new VMware landscape? The discontinuation of vSphere Standard by Broadcom is forcing a major decision for many IT leaders.
If you were moved from Essentials to Standard, your next renewal will likely require a move to vSphere Foundation or finding a new solution entirely. This is a significant change, and it's crucial to understand your options.
Here's a critical point many don't realize:
If you upgraded from a perpetual license to a Broadcom subscription, you did not forfeit your original perpetual licenses. You have the right to revert to them if the new vSphere Foundation package doesn't fit your budget.
This is a vital short-term option, but it's not a permanent strategy. Those perpetual licenses will eventually face hardware compatibility and security update challenges. It's essential to research your long-term plan before you're forced to make a change.
My team at iT1 Source has been working proactively to educate our customers on all their paths forward. (I'm proud to say we successfully secured all of my clients' final Standard renewals in before the cutoff.)
We are hosting a webinar on Tuesday, November 18th, 2025, to explore some of the options for your virtual environment.
If you're facing this challenge and want to figure out the best strategy for your company, please reach out to me. If you can't make the webinar, I am happy to set up a one-on-one conversation.
My goal is to help make this transition as easy as possible for you.
